Meghalaya the Abode of Clouds is one of the seven Northeastern states of India. It is bound by Assam in the north and east and by Bangladesh in the south. The river Brahmaputra forms the border in the west. It comprises of erstwhile Khasi-Jaintia hills and Garo hills districts. Most of the terrain is hilly and the region experiences heavy rainfall during monsoons. Meghalaya is home to three major tribal populations – Khasis, Garos and Jaintias. It offers a variety of sights, activities, food and festivals to the tourists. Well known for Cherrapunjee, locally known as Sohra and Mawsynram the place which receives one of the maximum rainfall in the world.

Meghalaya popularly known as the “Abode of Clouds” is home to three major tribal populations – Khasis, Garos and Jaintias and is one of the very few matrilineal societies prevalent in the world.  The State is one of the seven Northeastern states of India and is bounded by Assam in the north and east and by Bangladesh in the south and the river Brahmaputra in the west. DAY 2: SHILLONG

After breakfast the day is scheduled with a full day sightseeing tour in and around Shillong. Explore Elephant falls, Shillong Peak, Lady Hyderi Park, Don Bosco Museum, Ward’s Lake and St. Catholic Cathedral Church. Evening you can stroll around the market and enjoy shopping. Overnight stay at a hotel in Shillong.

DAY 3: CHERRAPUNJEE

After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee – The locals traditionally call it Sohra, Cherrapunji attracts lot of tourists because of its abundant natural beauty, package of valleys and waterfalls, caves and canyons, evergreen misty landscapes and heavy rains. Enroute visit Elephant Falls, Mawkdok Valley view point. Later proceed to Cherrapunjee and visit Wahkabah Falls, Arwah Cave, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters waterfalls and Eco Park. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee/Shillong.

DAY 4: SHILLONG – GUWAHATI

Post breakfast in the morning, drive back to Guwahati and straight transfer to airport to catch your flight/train to onward destination.

DAY 2: LAITLUM AND MAWPHLANG

Morning after breakfast visit Laitlum Grand Canyon – One of the most amazing and picturesque tourist destinations, perched atop the East Khasi Hills of Shillong, which in literal sense means “The End of Hills” or “The End of The World” perched in the East Khasi Hills of Shillong, Laitlum Canyons is a little-explored haunt of the mountainous state of Meghalaya. At Laitlum, all one can see are breathtaking gorges and steep winding stairways that snake their way down to the lush valley. Later continue to drive and explore Elephant falls and Shillong Peak after which you will be transferred to Mawphlang Sacred Grove. Arrive Mawphlang and you will be taken for a short trek around Lawkyntang or Sacred Forest popularly known as Mawphlang Sacred Grove. It is an ideal destination for nature lovers and among the best places to experience. Overnight stay in Shillong.

DAY 3: CHERRAPUNJEE

DAY 4: DAWKI & MAWLYNNONG

After breakfast drive to Dawki, also an Indo-Bangladesh Border. Enjoy boat ride on the crystal clear view water at your own cost. Return and visit Mawlynnong, The cleanest village in India. Visit a Balancing Rock, The Living Root Bridge in Riwai Village and also climb the bamboo made structure to get the view from tree top tower of plains of Bangladesh. Evening you can enjoy the walk around the village with paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed. Overnight stay in Mawlynnong.

DAY 5: JAINTIA HILLS

Today morning after breakfast start for your tour towards Jaintia Hills – the Jaintia Hills is a land of majestic hills filled with rich natural vegetation and mineral deposits. It is home to one of the most beautiful waterfalls of India, the Krangsuri falls. The beautiful village of Nartiang is also situated in these fascinating hills where one can find the remnants of the Summer Palace of the Jaintia King. The Nartiang Monoliths, a large collection of mighty stones set since the Stone Age may also be found here. Visit Thadlaskein Lake, Nartiang Monolits, and Krangsuri Waterfalls. Return back to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong.

DAY 6: SHILLONG – GUWAHATI

Post breakfast in the morning, drive back to Guwahati and straight transfer to airport to catch your flight/train to onward destination.

To get the best vantage point to see the entire area, including Mawlynnong and a good look at this area of Bangladesh, you’ll have to visit the Sky Walk, a towering structure made entirely of bamboo poles. Return back to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong.

DAY 5: SHILLONG – GUWAHATI

Post breakfast in the morning, drive back to Guwahati and straight transfer to airport to catch your flight/train to onward destination.

DAY 3: TREK TO DAVID SCOTT TRAIL

Morning after breakfast you will be driven for a trek to David Scott Trail which is a Historical Trail. David Scott was a British administrator who operated in and around the Khasi hills for nearly thirty years (1802-1832). This 20-km trek is a part of the famous horse-cart track that he built, which stretches from Cherrapunjee to Bangladesh and is named after him. The trek will be from Mawphlang to Ladmawphlang which are the names of two villages. Expect to see rivers, woods & rocks sculpting the enormous landscape, and of course of bridges that act as important medium of connection between the two villages. Our vehicle will receive you from Ladmawphlang and transfer you straight to Cherrapunjee. On arrival check in to your hotel and evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

DAY 4: TREK TO DOUBLE DECKER LIVING ROOT BRIDGE

Morning after breakfast drive towards Tyrna for trekking to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge located in Nongriat Village. The trek to the village is constitute of 3500 steps after which you will be crossing the river to reach the destination. Enjoy your time gazing and enjoying the village and the living root bridge. Later you will be taken forward trek to Rainbow Falls. You can also take a dip in the natural pool there and return for a night stay in the village. Overnight stay in Nongriat village.

DAY 5: CHERRAPUNJEE

Morning after breakfast trek back to Cherrapunjee – The locals traditionally call it Sohra, Cherrapunji attracts lot of tourists because of its abundant natural beauty, package of valleys and waterfalls, caves and canyons, evergreen misty landscapes and heavy rains. Visit Wahkabah Falls, Arwah Cave, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters waterfalls and Eco Park. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

DAY 6: DAWKI & MAWLYNNONG

After breakfast drive to Dawki. Enjoy boat ride on the clear view water at your own cost. Return and visit Mawlynnong, The cleanest village in India. Visit a Living Root Bridge and walk around the village with paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed. Enjoy an excellent view of plains of Bangladesh. DAY 4: SHILLONG – KAZIRANGA

Morning after breakfast check-out and straight transfer to Kaziranga National Park (7 hours), one of India’s best kept national parks and famous for its large herds of one-horned rhinos. Kaziranga was declared a protected forest area by Viceroy Lord Curzon in 1904 and later became a UNESCO heritage center for its unique environment and successes on the conservation front. Enjoy some photography in the tea estates surrounding the national park. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

DAY 5: KAZIRANGA – GUWAHATI

In the morning, enjoy a thrilling elephant safari at your own cost in central range which will bring you up close to some of the animals. Later after breakfast, go on a guided jeep safari in the dense forests, with good opportunities to see the migratory birds and sometimes tigers on the banks of Brahmaputra. River Dolphins, wild ducks and turtles can also be seen in the riverside. Later in the day visit the Kaziranga Orchid and Bio-Diversity Park at Kaziranga National Park. The Kaziranga Orchid and Bio-Diveristy Park is the Largest Orchid Park in India. Later transfer straight to Guwahati and transfer to your respective hotel. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

DAY 6: GUWAHATI

Morning after breakfast day is scheduled for sightseeing in and around Guwahati. Visit Kamakhya temple, Umananda Island Temple, Nabagraha Temple (temple of nine planets), State Museum (closed on Sunday and holidays), Assam state zoo, Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra and Balaji Temple. DAY 3: MANAS TO SHILLONG

Early morning enjoy your Jungle Jeep Safari in Manas and visit points where you can catch a glimpse of the wild animals. There are many animals that inhabit this park and can meet you on the way including Asian elephants, Indian tigers, Clouded leopards, Assamese Macaques, Hoolock gibbons, etc. Return back to hotel and pack your bags and transfer straight to Shillong. If time permits visit Umiam Lake. Overnight stay in Shillong.

DAY 4: SHILLONG

After breakfast the day is scheduled with a full day sightseeing tour in and around Shillong. Explore Elephant falls, Shillong Peak, Lady Hyderi Park, Don Bosco Museum, Ward’s Lake and St. Catholic Cathedral. Overnight at a hotel.

DAY 7: MAWLYNGBNA

Morning after breakfast checkout and straight transfer to Mawlyngbna – a village located about 17 kms from Mawsynram. This village is an epitome of archaeological findings. Fossils of animals dating way back to 200 million years have been discovered and preserved. Enjoy the sight of Umkhakoi Reservoir which offers adventure sports including swimming and boating. You can enjoy kayaking and Zip Lining at your own cost. Return and overnight stay in Shillong. 

DAY 8: SHILLONG TO GUWAHATI

Post breakfast in the morning, drive back to Guwahati and straight transfer to Guwahati Airport to catch your flight to onwards destination.
