Manipur is one of the beautiful destinations where tourists can lose themselves in the lap of Mother Nature. Even though the state is least touched and discovered, Manipur offers a lot to the tourists from bounty full of exotic landscapes, imposing hills, lush green valleys, azure lakes and dense forest. Tourists planning to visit Manipur is not just going to come across the scenic beauty of the destination but also the culture that is followed by the people of Manipur.

Manipur, one of the seven sister states of North East India, is the least explored state in the region.  It is bestowed with astounding culture, tradition and ethnicity as well as rich biodiversity, thus offering an experience of its kind to the visitors. Manipur has earned popularity in the country for its classical dance, Manipuri Rasleela and the largest freshwater lake in the country,  Loktak lake.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IMPHAL

Upon arrival at the Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to the hotel. After getting freshen-up and relaxed, proceed for a tour to the Khwairamband Bazar also known as Ima Keithel which is one of the popular markets in Imphal and is operated by women. Tourists can get indulged in buying the exquisite handicrafts and handlooms that reflects the art and culture of Manipur. Once done with exploring and shopping, head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: TOUR TO IMPHAL

In the morning, after having breakfast, leave for a full day sightseeing tour to Imphal. A visit to Kangla Fort which is one of the best attractions in Imphal will help in exploring and learning about the historically rich heritage of Manipur. The archaeological site in the ruins will let you discover the stories related to success and war. Head to Manipur State Museum where you can explore a wide collection of Manipuri culture, wildlife and lifestyle. A walk to Manipur Zoological Garden will bring you close to wild and nature at the same time. You will get the opportunity to spot approx 400 beautiful animal species with some popular ones Python, Hoolock Gibbon, Leopard Cat, Slow Loris, Himalayan Bear, and Flying Squirrel. A visit to Khonghampat Orchidarium will take you to an amazing place for the nature lovers and can witness around 120 varieties of orchids. Once done with the sightseeing tour, head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: IMPHAL TO BISHNUPUR TO IMPHAL

In the morning, after having breakfast, head to Bishnupur which is approx 29 kms away from Imphal. On arrival, you will be taken to the famous Vishnu Temple which was built in the year 1467 and is one of the oldest known brick temples in Manipur. Visiting the temple you will come across the magnificent architecture of the temple which is a fusion of the architectural styles of both Hindus and Chinese. Once done with exploring the Vishnu Temple along with other temples, head back to Imphal for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 4: LOKTAK LAKE

In the morning, after having breakfast head to the famous Loktak Lake which is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India. On arrival, you will witness the beautiful lake which is also popular as the only Floating Lake in the World. Tourist can get indulged in a boat ride which helps in creating an unforgettable experience. Also, to get a wildlife experience, head to the Keibul Lamjao National Park which is located near the lake. Visiting the park you will get the opportunity to witness the endangered Sangai which is the state animal of Manipur, Eastern Site Stork, Hooded Crane, the Black Eagle, Bamboo Partridge, Shaheen Falcon and Green Peafowl and more. After completing the sightseeing tour, head back to the hotel at Imphal for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 5: DEPARTURE

Next morning after having breakfast, head to visit the Handicrafts Emporium and Museum. After visiting the museum, bid adieu to the amazing Manipur tour by heading to the Imphal Airport to board the flight for the onward journey.

ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVE IMPHAL

Arrive Imphal and check in to hotel. Later visit Kangla Fort, Khwairamband Keithel or Ima Market (Women Local Market) and Govindaji Temple.  Shri Shri Govindajee Temple – is an elegant Vaishnavite shrine located in Imphal, the capital city of Manipur. It stands adjacent to the palace of the former rulers of the state. The temple was built in the early 18th century by Rajarishi Bhagyachandra. It has a beautiful image of Lord Vishnu, which is flanked by the idols of Lord Balram and Lord Krishna. Shri Govindajee Temple is simple in its architecture. It has two golden domes, a paved courtyard and a large raised congregation hall. Overnight stay hotel at Imphal.

DAY 02: LOKTAK LAKE

After breakfast excursion to Loktak Lake, Sendra Island 48kms. Visit Keibul Lamjao National Park – one and only floating national park in the world where the endangered dancing deer – Sangai is found, Lokatk Lake which is a largest fresh water lake in north east, Ina Memorial – Indian tri color flag was first hoisted here by INA at Moirang, Sendra Park and view point. Overnight stay at a hotel at Loktak Lake.

DAY 03: MOREH

Transfer to Moreh village by car. Moreh is the border of India and Myanmar. It is the border town of Manipur on the national highway Number 39, surrounded by hills, mountains & rivers which is 110 kilometres from Imphal. It is located on the Indo – Myanmar Road, a commercial town attracting a large numbers of people from neighbouring places. It is only 5 kilometres away from Tamu, its Myanmar counterpart and is especially the best place for shopping & business. The recent opening of the Border trade turned Moreh into an important commercial hub in North – East. Just on the other side of the border, at Namphanglong, there is a big Myanmar’s market complex where all kinds of Thai and Chinese consumer goods are available at a reasonable low price. You can have a small visit to Tamu (Myanmar part by submitting your identity card). Night stay at Imphal.

DAY 04: IMPHAL TO UKHRUL

After breakfast transfer to Ukhrul which is approx. 6 to 7 hrs journey.  A picturesque hill town of Manipur – lies about 84 km kilometers to the North East of Imphal. The place is inhabited by Tangkhul Tribes. The life and art of Tangkhuls are attractive and captivating. Their different costumes and wears, utensils, architecture, monumental erections and memorial set-up depict their dexterity in art, which also speak of  their sense of beauty and finesse. Night stay at Ukhrul.

DAY 05: SIRUI LILY HILL

Early morning have a small hike to the Sirui Lily Hills. If you can climb 1.5 kms you will enjoy the savana and exotic views. Later after lunch you can proceed to Imphal which is 3 hrs drive. Overnight stay in Imphal.

DAY 06: DEPARTURE

Morning after breakfast check-out and straight transfer to the airport to catch your flight to onwards destination.

DAY 07: KHONOMA VILLAGE

You will be taken to Khonoma village which is a historical village and also the last base for the Angami tribe. Later, you will be taken to visit the state museum where you can witness the tribal lifestyle and culture of the Naga people.  Also sightseeing Kohima War Cemetery (It was built in memory of the soldiers who lost their lives during the World War II) and Kisama Heritage Village. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kohima.

DAY 08: DEPARTURE

Morning after breakfast check out and transfer straight to Dimapur or Imphal airport to catch your flight to onwards destination.
