Arunachal Pradesh is located at the top of North-Eastern India. It is bounded by Bhutan in the west, China in the north and Burma in the east and the state of Assam in the south. Being located in part of the Eastern Himalayan ranges, Arunachal Pradesh is the most picturesque tourist destination of India. With its numerous turbulent streams, roaring rivers, deep gorges, lofty mountains, snow-clad peaks, thousands of species of flora and fauna and an endless variation of scenic beauty, especially, adventure and eco-tourism. Road is the only means of transportation in the State.

Nestled in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayan ranges, Arunachal Pradesh is one of the picturesque tourist destinations of India. ITINERARY

DAY 01: GUWAHATI – NAMERI NATIONAL PARK

Welcome to North-East. Our representative pick-up you from airport or rail station & directly proceed to Nameri National Park to spend the night at an Eco camp near the Assam Arunachal Pradesh border. Evening, walk on the banks of river Jia Bhorolee River that flows near to your camp. Come back to the camp at dusk. Dinner and Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 02: BHALUKPONG – DIRANG

Early Morning you can do River rafting on Jia Bhorolee River. After that check out from hotel & directly proceed to Dirang. Dirang: is a charming city located in north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. With beautiful apple orchards and impressive sheep breeding farms, Dirang holidays draw travellers for a welcome break ‘Hot-Water Spring’ of Dirang located 4 kms away from Dirang township enroute to Tawang was given a facelift on `10th November 2012 with a social service-cum cleanliness drive initiated by Dirang General Administration with support from All Dirang. Students Union (ADSU) and general public of Dirang. Evening you are free for leisure. You can visit local sightseeing. Overnight stay at hotel. 

DAY 03: DIRANG-TAWANG

After breakfast, drive Dirang to Tawang.  Selapass: Sela Pass, with a height of 13,714 ft, is one of the most visited places in entire Arunachal Pradesh. Considered to be heaven on earth, the Sela Mountain Pass in winter is entirely covered with snow. Before reaching this pass, the travelers are welcomed by another lake, which is known as the Paradise Lake. There are many scenic spots on the way to Tawang. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 04: TAWANG

After breakfast, visit local sightseeing Main attraction of Tawang is – Tawang Monastery: Tawang Monastery, also known as the Golden Namgyal Lhatse, is one of the largest lamaseries of Mahayana sects. This is the second oldest Monastery in the entire world after Lhasa. With a control over 17 Gompas in the region, this monastery is believed to be 400 years old. War Memorial: Tawang War Memorial, a 40 foot high multi-hued memorial, has a structure constructed in stupa design. Dedicated to the martyrs of Sino-India War held in 1962, this memorial is nestled among beautiful peaks, which overlooks the Tawang-Chu valley. Popularly known as Namgyal Chorten, the memorial has names of 2,420 dead soldiers. PTSO Lake: Pangang Teng Tso Lake, one of the most famous lakes of Arunachal Pradesh, is located at a distance of 18 kilometre from Tawang Township. Popularly known as P.T. Tso Lake, this lake is one of the ideal spots for picnic. The word ‘Tso’ in Monpa dialect means Monpa. During the winter months, the lake remains entirely frozen. Land records say the lake was created by a flash flood following the 1950 earthquake in the region. But, many come here to see Madhuri Lake. Overnight stay at hotel. 

DAY 05: TAWANG

After breakfast, visit Bum La Pass. The Bum La Pass is located about 37 km away from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, at the Indo-China border above 16,500 ft above sea level. It is often covered with heavy snow throughout the year. It is one of the most off-beat passes in the world and is also referred to as the pass from where Dalai Lama entered India escaping from Tibet. Overnight stay at hotel. 

DAY 06: TAWANG – BOMDILA

After breakfast check out from hotel & directly proceed to Bomdila. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at Bomdila. 

DAY 07: BOMDILA–GUWAHATI

Early morning after breakfast check out from hotel & directly proceed to Guwahati Airport for your return journey.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: GUWAHATI – TEZPUR  

Arrive at Guwahati airport. Proceed to Tezpur (5 hours) for overnight stay. If time permits, enjoy the sunset view from Agnigarh hill on the banks of Brahmaputra River or visit the old Mahabhairab temple.

DAY 2: TEZPUR – DIRANG  

After breakfast, travel to Dirang (7 hours), a beautiful valley on the banks of Kameng River in Arunachal Pradesh. If time permits, visit the old Dirang Dzong, a historic village of the Monpa tribe built within a 300 year fortress.

DAY 3: DIRANG – TAWANG  

After breakfast, drive uphill to Tawang (7 hours), the land of 108 holy lakes. On the way, see the snowy Sela pass (4000m), frozen Sela Lake, Jung waterfalls and Jaswant Garh war memorial. Arrive by sunset.

DAY 4: TAWANG

Full day sightseeing around Tawang, visit the 17th century Gaden Namgyal Lhatse (Tawang monastery), the largest in India and the second largest Buddhist monastery in the world. Interact with the monks and also visit the monastery museum. Next, visit the old Brahmadung Ani Gompa (nunnery). Also visit Urgyeling monastery, the birthplace of Dalai Lama VI. Later in the afternoon, visit craft centre and emporium to purchase religious items and souvenirs. Evening will be free to explore local market and try ethnic Monpa and Tibetan cuisine.

DAY 5: BUMLA / ZEMITHANG

Day trip towards Bum La pass (3 hours) in the Himalayas to see PT Lake, Tsongatser, Nagula lakes, beautiful landscape of Y Point and Taktsang shrine. Return by evening. (Bum La trip is for Indian nationals only, day trip is subjected to weather conditions and permission from Army). OR Day excursion to Zemithang (3 hours) to see the large Gorsam Stupa and traditional villages, lifestyle and culture of the Monpa tribe of Tawang region. On the way, visit Manjushri orphanage or Jamse Gatsal school at Lumla, optional.

DAY 6: TAWANG – BOMDILA   

After breakfast, drive downhill to Bomdila (8 hours) for overnight mid-way halt. On the way, visit the Khinmey monastery of the Nyingmapa sect which has a beautiful deity of Guru Rinpoche and artistic interiors. Arrive by evening and check-in a cozy homestay near the monastery. One can learn about Monpa culture and cuisine from the host family.

DAY 7: BOMDILA – GUWAHATI  

In the morning, visit the large GRL monastery in Upper Bomdila. After breakfast, return to Guwahati (8 hours) via Kalaktang. If time permits, one the way, visit the old Rupa monastery and Chilipam monastery of the Sherdukpen tribe in Tenga valley. Arrive by evening and rest after a long drive.

DAY 8: GUWAHATI

After breakfast, transfer to airport for departure.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: DIBRUGARH – SILAPATHAR

Arrive at Dibrugarh airport. Drive to Bogibeel and cross the new bridge over the mighty Brahmaputra River and drive to Silapathar (3 hours) for overnight mid-way halt.

DAY 2: SILAPATHAR – ALONG

Continue driving next morning to Along (7 hours) in Arunachal Pradesh. Check-in the tourist lodge along the beautiful banks of Siyom river. If time permits, also visit a temple of Donyi Polo religion of the native Galo tribe.

DAY 3: ALONG – MECHUKA

After breakfast, travel uphill to the frontier town of Mechuka (7 hours) in the Himalayas, which is renowned for its scenic beauty and also for its sacred sites of pilgrimage for Buddhists and Sikhs. Rest of the day will be free at leisure to enjoy the serene landscape of Mechuka valley. Enjoy a rural stay with a local Memba family. The Memba culture has been influenced by Tibetan traditions and religion.

DAY 4, 5: MECHUKA

Spend the next two days exploring the beautiful Himalayan valley and visiting Memba villages. See the 17th century Samten Yongcha monastery, the main landmark of Mechuka and the oldest Buddhist temple in Arunachal Pradesh. The monks of this monastery hail Sikhism founder Guru Nanak as the great Lama of Amristar. Short hikes are also possible in Dargeling village along the Yargap Chu river and surrounding mountains.

DAY 6: MECHUKA – ALONG

Return to Along (7 hours) and check-in a family run guest house in a Galo village near Along. If time permits, explore the village and walk on an indigenous hanging bamboo bridge over the Siyom River.

DAY 7: ALONG – PASIGHAT

After breakfast, travel to Pasighat (6 hours) located on the banks of Siang River (Brahmaputra). Check-in a beautiful campsite surrounded by forests. Later in the afternoon, visit nearby villages of Adi tribe, who were once fierce warriors and are known for their war dances.

DAY 8: PASIGHAT – DIBRUGARH

After breakfast, transfer to Dibrugarh airport (4 hours) for departure in the afternoon.

DAY 03: DIRANG – TAWANG

Today after breakfast drive to Tawang (160 kms / 08 hrs), enroute you will visit Sella Pass and Sella Lake situated at an altitude of 13476 ft. Also visit Jaswant Ghar and before reaching Tawang visit the Nunarang fall. Reach Tawang and check into Hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Tawang.

DAY 04: TAWANG

Today visit Tawang Monestry – The Famous Gaden Namgyal Lhatse, popularly known as Tawang Monastery was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso in the year 1680-81. The monastery stands on the spur of a hill, about 10,000 feet above sea level and has ravines in the south and west, narrow ridge on the north and gradual slope on the east. It offers a commanding and picturesque view of the Tawang-chu valley. From a distance it appears like a fort as if guarding the votaries in the wide valley below. Tawang monastery is the largest of its kind in the country and is one of the largest monasteries in Asia. Though it has the capacity for housing about seven hundred monks, the actual number of resident lamas (monks) at present is a little more than 450. This monastery is the fountain-head of the spiritual life of the people of this region. Also visit Urgelling Monastery – the birth place of Sixth Dalai Lama. Ani Gompa, PTSo lake, and Sangetsar Lake, after a late lunch and refreshment visitTawang War Memorial and evening at leisure. Overnight at Tawang.

DAY 05: TAWANG – BOMDILA

After breakfast drive to Bomdila (180 kms/ 07 hrs approx) en route visit Nuranang Falls at Jang and GRL Monastery (Upper Gompa). Overnight stay at Bomdila.

DAY 06: BOMDILA–GUWAHATI

After breakfast check out from hotel and directly proceed to Guwahati. Evening free for leisure.
Overnight stay at Guwahati.

DAY 07: GUWAHATI

After breakfast visit to Nilachal Hills for Kamakhya Mandir Darshan. Guwahati View Point. Ferry Ride to Umananda Temple(World’s smallest River Island). Later you will be taken to Brahmaputra River where you can go on a cruise at your own cost. Overnight stay at Guwahati.

DAY 08: GUWAHATIAfter breakfast drive to Guwahati airport to catch your flight to onwards destination.

DAY 06: BOMDILA – GUWAHATI

After breakfast drive to Guwahati. If time permits, visit Balaji Temple, Basistha Temple, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Khetra. Overnight in Hotel

DAY 07: GUWAHATI – POBITORA

After breakfast drive to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.It is mainly famous for its great Indian One Horned  Rhinoceros. Besides Rhinos  the other animals are leopard,wild boars,barking deer,wild buffalos and Pobitora is home for more than 2000 migratory birds and various reptiles. Haduk Hanging Bridge  and Garanga Beel pond. Elephant & jeep safaris are major activities.Evening  back to Hotel.

DAY 08: GUWAHATI.After breakfast drive to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for onward Journey.
